“Do what the Medical Team says!”
There are those among you who have criticized me over the years and called me stubborn and hardheaded because I sometimes don’t do what the doctors tell me to do.

Sometimes I’ll start a plan and then abandon it and other times I’ve ignored it right from the beginning. Some of you have voiced your displeasure with those decisions.

Well, you’ll be happy to know that I have seen the error of my ways.
Because of a message received this afternoon from a member of my care team, I decided that I will follow the instructions from my doctors, without question or hesitation… at least for now!🤣

Today, the results of my last lab test came back, and after I saw them, I forwarded them to my care team… who by the way are all still debating amongst themselves whether I should stay on Hospice or not. That is a topic for another day.

I try to keep them informed, so that they can stay on top of what instructions I haven’t been following…. and then be upset with me for not following them. The results that came back this morning (Sunday 27.April) were, for lack of a better word, interesting.
For about two weeks, I’ve been experiencing some pretty serious pains.

I’ve been using “that medication” more often in order to deal with it.
The lab tests last week were supposed to answer some questions about what might be causing the pains.

The doctors weren’t sure if the problems were caused by a UTI or whether they involved after effects from the radiation treatment.

That “Mind vs Body” struggle that I’ve been talking about lately pretty much came to head in these last couple of weeks. The body has been winning.

Where I used to be able to simply push through a situation by saying “I can handle this!“ … now quite often I find myself at the point where I say, “ I can handle this if ….”

That “if“ generally involved taking a pill to make sure that I can get through it, or adjusting my schedule to make sure that I could circumvent the problem.

In short, that meant being selective about when and how often I could go out. I’m pretty much oversimplifying it, because I don’t wanna bore anyone with details.

I’ll be happy to answer any questions that you might have in personal messages if you want clarification.
No, I’m not an invalid at this point, but I do have to be a little more cautious about how I spend my time.

I sent my Oncologist the results of the lab test today. The first thing I did in the message was to apologize to him for sending him this stuff on a Sunday and interrupting his weekend.

He responded a few hours ago. He said that he doesn’t believe That the problems are being caused by a UTI. I responded with… “ Oh, that’s not good!”

The reason I say that is because if it were a UTI and the problem could be resolved with a simple 7-day treatment of antibiotics. End of problem!

The fact that it’s not a UTI means that I have to refer back to the information that I found after researching the various test results.

If that is the case, then I’ve got some fun days ahead. I won’t go into details because I worry that the platform might delete the post because of sensitive content 🫣
That happened once before, and I still don’t know what caused it.
